This article is designed to investigate the result of previous researches on 'Youngjaeujeok(永才遇賊: Youngjae met plunderers)' and 'Ujeokga(遇賊歌: a song of meeting plunderers)' in Samgukyusa(三國遺事) focused on the important elements of storytelling such as characters, space and action, having applicability of traditional culture to modernization in mind. Youngjae and 60 plunderers, the main characters of 'Youngujeok' are contrary in character. Youngjae is humorous character unlike most truth-seekers', so we can expand our images of monks not only sublime, but also humorous. The 60 plunderers are expressed in greedy hooligans like a stereotype of thieves. Daehyeonlyeong(大峴嶺), the major background of 'Youngjaeujeok' has the meaning which is the creating place of 'Ujeokga', the living space of thieves, and the ground of a rite of passage of Youngjae. The space which has the multi layers of meaning is a feasibility for making a storytelling. The main factor which provokes plunderers' act of finding truth dramatically is 'Ujeokga'. 'Ujeokga' is known as a difficult song to decode, but it implies the actions of past, present, and future of Youngjae and 60 plunderers, so it delivers common people the meaning of practicing asceticism with emotional stimulation.

본 논문에서는 고전의 현대적 활용을 염두에 두고 캐릭터, 공간, 행위 등 스토리텔링의 주요 요소를 중심으로『삼국유사』<영재우적>조와 <우적가>에 대한 그간 의 연구 성과를 살펴보았다. <영재우적>조의 주요 캐릭터인 영재와 60인의 도적은 대립적 성격을 보인다. ‘성골계(性滑稽)’한 영재는 구도자에 대한 일반적인 이미지를 확장하는데 기여할 수 있는 개성적인 캐릭터라고 할 수 있다. 반면 60인 도적은 사회와 떨어져 생활하고 있지만 속(俗)에서 사는 중생보다 더 세속적 가치에 탐닉하며 사는 무리라는 정형화된 도적 이미지를 보여준다. <영재우적>조의 주요 배경공간인 ‘대현령’은 노래의 창작지이자 도적의 생활공간이며 영재의 통과공간이라는 의미를 가진다. 다층적 의미를 지닌 공간은 캐릭터의 행위를 유발하여 스토리텔링을 이끌어 갈 수 있다는 점에서 유효한 콘텐츠라고 볼 수 있다. <영재우적>조에서 캐릭터의 극적 행위를 이끌어 낸 요인은 바로 <우적가>이다. <우적가>는 난해한 향가이지만 도적과 영재의 과거와 현재, 미래의 모습을 재현함으로 써 피은과 구도의 의미를 전달하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 영재와 도적이 갖는 캐릭터 이미지, 노래의 창작지이자 영재와 도적이 만나는 공간배경, 영재와 도적의 과거 현재 미래를 표현한 <우적가>와 노래의 감성 자극을 통한 도적의 행위의 전환은 <영재우적>조를 구성하는 중요한 요소이면서 각각 그 자체로 활용될 가치를 지닌 것이라고 할 수 있다.
