A Study on the Establishment of City Identity on Historic City Gyeongju

The aim of this study is to suggest new city identity through analyzing matters relevant to city identity and city branding in the Gyeongju that has got the economic damage caused by decrease of city's competitiveness. The searching items of related matters are demanded actual Identity, conceived Identity, communicated Identity, ideal Identity, desired Identity and the brand slogan and character and logo of present Gyeongju city. The city identity of the Gyeongju that appears in analysis of each items compared with other cities are inferior relatively. Therefore, it is required that the city identity of the Gyeongju city should be improved. The plan for establishment of city identity on city Gyeongju are as follows ; 1. New suggestion about city brand essence through analyzing matters relevant to city identity. 2. Development plan of the brand slogan and character and logo of Gyeongju. 3. The advanced reforming will of the community to establish city identity.
