A Study on characteristics of education for the aged in Gyeongju city

This study will find out the present situation of the education of Gyeongju and suggest the implications and tasks for the better educations for the aged in Gyeongju city. This study contains the survey about needs assesment and levels of satisfaction of the aged students. And this study also contains the analysis about characteristics of education facilities, their curriculum and program for the aged in Gyeongju city. The implications of this study are as follows. First, The education for the aged in Gyeongju is poor in quantity and quality, and still remains in the successful aging stage in 1990s containing programs about health, leasure, spending time etc. Second, Gyeongju has no Senior Welfare Center which plays pivot roles in educations for the aged. And there is no programs operated by local universities and colleges which can gives advanced program on radical gerontology and humanistic view points. This study offers the local universities to attend the education for the aged. Local government has to make policies to revitalize by establishing Senior Welfare Center, and also make policies which enable the halls for aged to play as general and practical education facilities for the aged.
