Theories related to innovation networks and their implications for Gyeongju area

Through literature review, this study identifies the following five theories that have an impact on the performance of innovation networks: transaction cost theory, process theories, learning theories, sociological knowledge creation theories, and psychodynamic theories. In order to help Gyeongju area become a high-tech innovation area, insights from the five theories are provided as follows: (1) innovation networks should have whole community including its citizens as their participants.; (2) in order to attract the participants to involve in innovation networks more actively and voluntarily, meeting places should be provided for participants to frequently communicate each others.; and (3) making Gyeongju area a better place to live in should be emphasized in order to achieve the continuous higher performance of its innovation networks.
