The brain based educational programs are increasingly popular, because of advances in neurosciences. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Brain Education meditation program, Happy School Program that was applied to 269 elementary school student. Happy School Program have been showing the positive effects. The scale was BQ(Brain Operating System Quotient). 181(98 boys, 88 girls) elementary school students completed the brain based meditation program over the course of 10 weeks. 88 students(41 boys, 47 girls) in a control group participated in the other class. Pre-test post-test comparisons were conducted
through repeated measures ANOVA, to evaluate the effect of the Brain Education meditation program., Happy School Program. The results say Happy School Program positively influenced concentration, meta cognition, emotional control ability and physical control ability. Results were discussed in terms of possible mechanisms of benefit and an alternative method of present school education that has many problems.

최근 신경과학의 발전으로 뇌에 기반을 둔 프로그램들이 증가 추세에 있다. 본 연구에서는 이들 프로그램중 뇌교육 명상을 활용한 해피스쿨 프로그램의 효과를 실증적으로 검증해보고자 한다. 측정도구로는 두뇌활용능력지수 척도를 사용하였으며, 연구대상으로 초등학교 5학년 9개 학급을 선정하여 사전-사후검사 통제집단 설계를 적용하여 주 1회(40분) 10주간 프로그램을 실시하였다. 자료분석은 Repeated Measures ANOVA 방식을 사용하였다. 분석결과 해피스쿨 프로그램은 초등학생의 집중력, 메타인지, 정서조절능력, 신체조절능력의 하위요인에서 유의미한 결과가 나타나, 뇌교육 명상을 활용한 해피스쿨 프로그램은 두뇌활용능력지수에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이러한 검증결과는 최근 위기에 처해있는 공교육의 새로운 교육문화운동으로서 제시될 수 있을 것이다.
