Indigenous actinomycetes strains were isolated from Gyebang mountain soil sample on International streptomyces project (ISP)-1 agar and ISP-2 as a selsctive medium. The in vitro antifungal activity of the actinomycetes strains BCNU 1005-1010 were examined against human pathogenic fungi and yeasts such as Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Epidermophyton
floccosum, Filobasidium neoformans, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton rubrum. BCNU 1005, 1006 and 1010 showed broad spectrum antifungal activities against human pathogenic fungi. Additionally, the 16S rDNA sequence was determined and Blast analysis was performed, which confirmed that the isolate belonged to the Streptomyces species.
