Studies on Essential Oil from Artemisia annua L. by supercritical Carbon Dioxide Extraction

The plant of Artemisia annua L. is one of the artemisia princeps var. Artemisia annua L. has many artemisinin. artemisinin and a sesquiterpene lactone endoperoxide is the active anti-malarial moiety isolated in 1972 from the chinese medicinal herb qinghao, Artemisia annua L. The
extraction of artemisinin from Artemisia annua L. has been performed using a supercritical carbon dioxide. The temperature was 35 ~ 45 ℃ and the pressure was 10, 15, 20, 25MPa , flow rate (23 g/min). Essential oil yield was increased when the operating temperature and pressure, flow rate was increased.
