Bacterial transcriptional regulators belong to IclR family involved in carbon metabolism contain the DNA-binding HTH domain in the N-terminal part. The C-terminal part contains about 170 residues regulatory domain, termed Effector binding Domain (ED) as it may bind a small
effector or signal molecule. The domains are named after Escherichia coli IclR (isocitrate lyase regulator), a repressor of the glyoxylate bypass operon for acetate utilization. Most IclR-type transcription regulators are repressors of specific catabolic genes in the absence of specific substrates, while excess of a specific effector triggers de-repression. Genome analysis
of Streptomyces peucetius revealed a transcriptional regulator named NrpsR which belongs to the IclR family of transcriptional regulator which is located within the non-ribosomal peptide synthase (NRPS) gene cluster. Here, we report the analysis of nrpsR gene, cloning and
expression into S. peucetius.
