The purpose of this study is to measure levels of self-esteem, social support and psychological well-being and identify effect of self-esteem and social support on psychological well-being of female marriage immigrants to work out strategies to improve their feelings of psychological well-being. In light of this, the present researcher conducted interviews with 181 female marriage immigrants staying in Choongbuk, Choongnam and Daejun and tried to research whether or not subjects' general characteristics and self-esteem, and social support for them affect their feelings of psychological well-being. As a result, it was revealed that independent variables of self-esteem and social support influenced feelings of psychological well-being. These results indicate that there is necessity for strategies to develop services related to self-esteem as a personal psychological factor and social support for them as a social factor, which can help enhance their feelings of happiness and satisfaction with life in Korea.

여성결혼이민자들이 보다 자유롭고 창조적이며, 지각력과 통찰력이 있고 인간성을 신뢰하며 보다 풍요로운 삶을 살 수 있도록 도움을 줄뿐만 아니라 한국에서의 생활 적응에도 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초자료가 필요한 실정이다. 이에 여성결혼이민자의 자아존중감, 사회적 지지, 심리적 안녕감 수준을 알아보고, 여성결혼이민자의 자아존중감과 사회적 지지가 심리적 안녕감에 미치는 영향요인을 파악하여 심리적 안녕감 향상을 위한 각종 교육․상담서비스 프로그램을 개발하는데 필요한 기초자료를 제시하고자 하는 것에 목적을 두고 있다. 대전광역시, 충청북도, 충청남도 지역을 중심으로 거주하는 여성결혼이민자를 대상으로 한 설문조사를 통해 수집한 결과를 분석하였고, 이를 바탕으로 정부와 지방자치단체, 시민사회에서의 역할을 제시하였다.
