The indication line of crosswalks in public design is one of the most exposed location to the public, and it is a visual space making people waiting until traffic lights change. From the perspective of people’s movement distance, it is the space with visual importance exposed to the public like stairs or pedestrian overpasses, and from the aspect of people’s visual exposure the indication line of crosswalks will serve as another purpose or provide aesthetic and psychological stability to the public more efficiently. Although the indication line of crosswalks is able to be positioned as the symbolism, this researcher intends to argue its changes as a designer living in modern times and to suggest designs of the crosswalk indication line as the advancing design for humans.

공공디자인에 있어서 횡단보도 표시선은 대중에게 가장 많이 노출되는 장소 중 하나이며, 특히 신호가 바뀔 동안 대중들로 하여금 대기시키는 시간적인 공간이기도 하다. 대중의 거리 동선이라는 개념에서 계단이나 육교의 경우처럼 대중에게 노출되는 시각적인 중요성을 가지는 공간이며 대중의 시각적 노출 측면으로 볼 때, 횡단보도 표시선은 다른 용도의 기능을 한다거나 대중들로 하여금 심미적, 심리적 안정감을 현재의 경우보다 더 효과적으로 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 횡단보도 표시선이 대중들에게는 이미 안전이라는 상징성만으로 자리 잡고 있을 수는 있지만, 현대를 살아가는 디자이너로서의 책임감으로 그 변화를 주장하고자 하며 아울러 인간을 위한 디자인으로서 보다 진화되는 디자인으로서의 횡단보도표시선 디자인을 제안하고자 한다.
