The purpose of this study lied in examining the present status of various types of in-service education in which middle school technology teachers participated to improve their ability to perform tasks and offering suggestions for the improvement of teacher's training. For the purpose, a survey was conducted using questionnaires. The sample size was defined in the way to obtain a 5 percent margin of error at a 95 percent level of confidence. The results of the study were as follows:
First, the technology teachers felt in-service education necessary and received the education through institution-led in-service training. Second, as for the degree of satisfaction with teacher's training, demanded that the time and method of training should be diversified and financial support for the training be expanded. Third, the technology teachers said they needed training for the units, ‘technology and invention’ and ‘understanding of traditional technology,’ which were newly introduced as a result of the amendment of technology curriculum. Fourth, they said enough time should be allocated to the content of the training related to practice.
Based on the results above, some suggestions were made. In order to lead teachers to aggressively complement previous education and to participate in in-service education, to improve the professionalism of teachers and practical methods are needed. In addition, teacher's training opportunities and technical training than any other opportunity to note that many teachers do not participate, so a lot of research on technology-related training is required, so that should lead to practical training.

이 연구의 목적은 중학교 기술을 담당하는 교사들의 직무 수행 능력 향상을 위해 참여하고 있는 다양한 형태의 현직 교육의 실태를 알아보고, 현직 교육의 개선방안을 제시하고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해서 질문지를 활용하여 조사연구법을 실시하였다. 표본의 크기는 95% 신뢰 수준과 오차 한계를 ±5%로 했으며, 170개교에 질문지를 배부하여 회수된 119개를 빈도분석, 교차분석과 χ2 검증 등을 시행하여 유의수준 .05에서 비교분석하였으며 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 부산광역시 기술 담당 교사들은 현직 교육이 필요하다고 느끼고 있었으며, 기관중심의 현직연수를 통해 참여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직무 연수에 대한 만족도에서 강사에 대한 전문성과 성적 평가 방법에 대해서는 만족하지 못했으며, 연수의 시기와 방법을 다양화하고 연수경비의 지원을 확대해야 한다고 하였다. 셋째, 기술 담당 교사들은 교육과정 개편과 관련된 지식내용에 많은 관심을 가지고 있었으며, 새롭게 편성된 ‘기술과 발명’ 단원과 ‘전통기술의 이해’ 단원에 대해 연수가 필요하다고 하였다. 넷째, 많은 교사들이 기술교사로서 실습에 대해 많은 시간적 배려가 필요하다고 하였다.
이상의 연구 결과에서 교사들이 적극적으로 현직 교육에 참여하도록 하기 위해서는 과다한 업무를 줄여야 하며, 교사들의 자발적인 연수 풍토를 조성하고, 직전 교육을 보충하고, 교사의 전문성을 향상시킬 수 있는 실질적인 방법이 필요하다. 그리고 기술 관련 직무 연수의 기회가 다른 연수보다 기회가 적어 많은 교사들이 참여하지 못하고 있으므로 기술 관련 연수에 대한 많은 연구가 필요하며, 실질적인 연수로 이어지도록 해야 한다.
