In this work we investigated practical arts curriculum of Korea compared to the electric and electronic's parts of United State of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), and Canada and proposed a new direction of the electric and electronic's unit of practical arts education in Korea.
Among several countries, we selected the USA (New york, California, and Indiana states), the UK, and the Canada (Ontario province) as objects of comparison, because they are advanced country for economy, culture, and technical training including the electric and electronic's education. We obtained the information for education system and latest practical arts curriculum of three countries from sites of ministry of education and national curriculum.
Based on the results of study, the following recommendations were made for new direction of the electric and electronic's unit of practical arts education in Korea. First, it is necessary to increase the study time for electric and electronic's unit of Practical Arts Education in Korea. Next, the composition of textbooks should be changed to learn the basic concepts of electric and electronic's through the actual case study. Finally, the increment of training time of teachers for electric and electronic's parts are needed to enhance the professionalism of them. We expect that these results can be used in various ways to reform the next curriculum of practical arts.

본 연구의 목적은 외국의 실과 관련 교과 내의 전기․전자 영역 교육과정과 내용을 분석하고 이를 개정된 실과 교육과정의 전기․전자 영역 내용과 비교 분석함으로써 앞으로 개정될 초등 실과 전기․전자 영역의 발전 방안을 제시하는 것이다.
비교 분석 대상은 미국의 뉴욕주와 인디애나주, 영국, 캐나다의 온타리오주이며 내용은 초등 실과 전기․전자 영역 관련 교육과정이다. 미국, 영국, 캐나다의 경우 경제, 문화뿐만 아니라 기술교육, 특히 우수한 전기․전자교육을 실시하고 있는 선진국이므로 이 세 나라의 교육과정을 분석하였다.
미국의 뉴욕주, 인디애나주 교육부 사이트, 영국의 natoinal curriculum 사이트, 캐나다의 온타리오주 교육부 사이트를 통해 각 국의 교육체제와 최신의 실과 관련 교육과정에 대한 정보를 얻어 전기․전자 영역에 대한 자료를 분석하였다.
본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우리나라의 실과에서 전기․전자 영역의 교육시간을 늘릴 필요가 있다. 둘째, 실제 사례를 학습하면서 전기․전자에 대한 기본 개념을 스스로 습득할 수 있도록 교과서 구성 체제를 변경해야 한다. 셋째, 교사의 전문성 향상을 위한 전기․전자 분야의 연수를 강화할 필요가 있다.
위와 같은 결과는 실과 교육과정 개정 시 유용한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
