GLOBAL-UPNP : GLOBAL SERVICE DISCOVERY ARCHITECTURE OF UPNP FOR MOBILE USERS

Abstract Universal plug and play (UPnP) can be used for mobile users to utilize adjacent devices without any annoying process. However, UPnP can not support global area service discovery. Previous approaches to support global service discovery for UPnP is not efficient because too many packets are needed to keep network connected and they does not concern caching effect. Global-UPnP is a new architecture to support global service discovery for UPnP device efficiently. We suggest UPnP global gateway (UGG), a new UPnP device, which supports global service discovery of UPnP device. Hierarchical tree and p2p hybrid architecture of UGG provides effective query by query cache effect, and virtual notification method reduces number of SSDP packets to keep global connection. As global-UPnP does not break UPnP standard, the deployment will be easy.

이 논문은 가까운 지역의 장치만 사용가능 했던 Universal Plug and Play (UPnP)의 약점을 보완하여, 글로벌 환 경에서도 UPnP 장치들을 빠르게 찾고 그것을 사용가능한 상태로 만들어 주는 구조를 제안한 논문이다. 글로벌 서 비스 디스커버리를 제공하는 새로운 UPnP 장치를 제안함으로 써, 표준을 깨뜨리지 않고, 모바일 사용자들에게 Global 쿼리를 제공한다. 또한 자주 사용되는 커리를 캐쉬를 이용해서 찾는 시간을 줄여주는 방법들이 제시되었고, 실험적으로 그러한 찾는 시간이 줄어드는 것을 확인하였다.
