A study on the Skin Beauty Interest in Silver Generation Women

While there is a rapid increase in world population, aging population arises with the extension of mean life span. Since the silver generation who is increased in time to spare has more economic ability than other generations, their possibility to pursue consumption life will be increased.
Because Korea has rapidly advanced to aging society, health and aging is a very important issue to become a huge market from a marketing angle. Therefore researches on the silver
generation are necessary to prepare for aging society in the future.
At this point, this study measured and understood skin beauty interest in silver generation women and examined the understanding and management of skin beauty, the use of cosmetics, and what product was used at that time. Also, this study aimed to grasp the growth potential of cosmetic market in silver generation women and provide basic materials for the development of the silver industry by analyzing purchase types of cosmetics, purchase expense, cosmetics-related expenses, self-purchase rate of cosmetics, consideration in purchase, the route to obtain beauty information, the need of cosmeceuticals, the intention to purchase cosmeceuticals in the future, and necessary characteristics of cosmeceuticals.
As a result of the study, skin beauty interest was positively correlated with the number of basic cosmetics in silver generation women but they had a statistically significant difference(r=0.443, p=.000).
Thus, it suggests that as skin beauty interest becomes high in silver generation women, their number of basic cosmetics is increased.
Skin beauty interest was positively correlated with the purchase expense of cosmetics in silver generation women but they had a statistically significant difference(r=0.454, p=.000).
Thus, it suggests that as skin beauty interest becomes high in silver generation women, their
purchase expense of cosmetics is increased.
There was a statistically significant difference in skin beauty interest according to the direct purchase of cosmetics(t=5.810, p<.05). Thus, it suggests that the silver generation women purchasing cosmetics directly have higher skin beauty interest than the women not purchasing directly.
There was a statistically significant difference in skin beauty interest according to the use of cosmeceuticals(t=5.630, p<.05). Thus, it suggests that the silver generation women using
cosmeceuticals have higher skin beauty interest than the women not using it.
There was a statistically significant difference in skin beauty interest according to the need of cosmeceuticals(t=4.790, p<.05). Thus, it suggests that the silver generation women perceiving the need of cosmeceuticals have higher skin beauty interest than the women not perceiving it.
Based on these results, it is necessary to develop cosmetics which can be used simply but have multiple functions for silver generation women.
Furthermore, since silver generation women’s potential of cosmetic market according to their skin beauty interest will expend the cosmetic industry and contribute to the growth of the cosmetic industry, the market should prepare it.
