This study starts from the searching for make-up actual condition and attitude about make-up of beauty high school students. The research was conducted from March 15 to April 4 in 2009 for students (they were three beauty high schools in Busan). The respondents composed of the first grade-13.9%(45 people), the second grade-47.8% (155 people), the third grade-38.3%(124 people). The statement issued by the students is follows.
A survey of the students has found that there are two main reasons of make-up; “deal with
weak point”-38.0%, “beautify oneself”-30.2 %.
And 38.9% said they were satisfied with their make-up, while 6.8 percent said they were not and the remaining 50.0 percent said their were somewhere in the middle.
According to this survey, most of the students are not unsatisfied with their make-up. It showed the average of the attitude to make-up is 3.29±0.55. Also it showed the attitude to make-up by health state; ‘very good(3.52)’, ‘good(3.40)’, ‘bad (3.00)’, ‘very bad(3.08)’.
According to this result, most of the students have positive attitude about make-up.The related factors to the attitude about make-up are follows; perception about the importance of make-up(p<0.001), self satisfaction of own make-up(p<0.001), state of skin health(p<0.01). A survey of the students has found that they have more positive attitude to make-up who think make-up is more important, more satisfied with their make-up and make-up is good for skin health.
It showed students recognized the necessity of make-up and the lower grade students think that appearance change is more important like dealing with weak point.
Make-up can change appearance. Also it is closely related with self-confidence of relationship and state of skin health. For that reason, this study can be used as basic data for construct make-up education system for would-be experts.
