This study experimented hair coloring using impatiens balsamina. Impatiens balsamina gathered in the hillock was divided into stems, flowers, and leaves, dried in the natural shade for 15 days, and finally grinded by a machine.
13 natural hair samples were made with the tip(5g) of hair fixed. 6 samples were mordanted, 6 were not mordanted, and 1 was used as a standard sample.
As a result of colorimetry using natural hair and impatiens balsamina without mordanting had no coloring effect. Although coloring effect was tested again using mordant, all of them had no reaction.
On the contrary, impatiens balsamina showed clearer and darker color in shorter time.
Colorimetry of bleaching hair mordanted showed that impatiens balsamina showed the clear and dark coloring result in comparatively short time.
In sum, impatiens balsamina could have clear color in 1 or 2 hours. In natural dyeing, natural hair needed bleaching to have clear color. In addition, clear and dark coloring depended on the kind of mordant even under the same condition and time.
This study will contribute to providing a new coloring method which complements the problems of chemical dyes and uses natural dyeing for beautiful and clear hair color.
