The Proverbs is good for all generations, and particularly it may provide the young generation with learning how to live in their own community with fearing God. Therefore its education needs to be available in family as well as school in spite of the current time spirit. It is very important to instruct it to the college students, in which their systems of Christian value are being formulated. In the late 20th century the worth of the Proverbs and methods to instruct it have been focused on in the Christian education as well as the Old Testament. This research analyzes current issues to find out effective educational methods of the Proverbs for the Christian college students, whose time spirit is dominated by the postmodernism. The distinctive features of postmodernism, its theological consequences, and its correspondence to the Proverbs are analyzed. And based on its communicative principles this formulates the third alternative of the “sapiential mode approach” including the traditional instructive approach such as lecture or sermon and the experience focused approach such as counseling or discussion. Its educational principles and methods for the Christian college students are elaborated. This research has a couple of contributions. The one shows current trend in the academic researches in the Proverbs education through reviewing both the Biblical research and the Christian education. The other suggests methods and methodologies of the Proverbs education for the Christian college students, whose religious backgrounds are very different from each other. It contributes to research and practice of the Proverbs education in the Christian college.

잠언은 모든 세대들의 지혜를 위한 책이지만 특별히 젊은 세대들이 즐겨 읽고, 하나님을 경외하는 사람으로서 그들이 속한 공동체에서 어떻게 살아야하는 것을 배울 수 있는 책이다. 그러한 이유에서 잠언 교육은 어느 시대와 상관없이 다음 세대가 속한 가정, 학교에서 행해져야한다. 특히 기독교적 가치관 형성의 중요한 시기인 청년기에 속한 대학생들에게 가르쳐야한다. 20세기 후반에 들어와서 잠언의 가치와 젊은이들에게 효과적으로 잠언을 가르치는 방법에 대한 연구가 활발해지고 있는데 그것은 시대적인 요청에 의해 이루어지는 성서학의 ‘지혜문학’ 연구와 기독교교육학의 ‘지혜교육’ 연구들이다. 이 연구는 포스트모더니즘 시대정신 속에 살고 있는 오늘의 기독교대학의 학생들을 위한 효과적인 잠언교육 방안을 찾기 위해 몇 가지 문제에 대한 학문적인 연구들을 살펴본다. 먼저 ‘포스트모던시대와 잠언의 특징’에서 포스트모더니즘의 특징과 신학적 대응, 그리고 이와 연관된 것으로 잠언의 내용, 교육 방법, 목적을, ‘잠언의 지혜양식’에서는 진리를 전달하고 실천케 하는데 있어 전통적인 두 양식인 전통중심 교육적 접근(강의, 설교)과 경험중심 교육적 접근(상담, 토의)의 장단점과 그 대안으로서의 제3의 양식인 잠언이 제시하는 ‘지혜 양식적 접근’을 살펴본다. 그리고 이상에서 제기한 이론적 기초에 따라 오늘날 기독교대학이 감당해야 할 대학생들을 위한 잠언교육의 방안과 방법들을 찾아본다. 이 연구는 다음 두 가지 점에서 기여할 수 있다. 첫째는 잠언에 대한 성서학과 기독교교육학의 접근이론을 살핌으로 잠언교육에 대한 학문적인 연구의 흐름과 방향성을 알게 된다. 둘째, 다양한 종교적 배경을 지니고 있는 기독교대학 학생들에게 어떻게 잠언교육이 이루어질 수 있는지에 대한 방안과 방법들을 제안하게 된다. 이를 통해 기독교대학에서 이루어져야 하는 잠언교육의 연구와 실천에 도움을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
