The purpose of this study is to design a fashion costume with application of armour in the 16th century. The province of this study is to analyze the structure of a particular armours and show the creative fashion costume with application of a peculiarity through a graphing and illustration by Adobe Illustrator. It is also to analyze sculptural and decorative features, scientific structure, the ability in terms of protectation and volup-tuous beauty. The materials of the design are the German fluted decoration and besagew of Maximilian armour(shoulder defense), struture of pieces of plate and epauliere of foot combat armour, slashed armour of professionals, and reinforcement of tournament armour. Therefore an armour is an attractive material which gives creative possibilities in molding costume design.

본 논문의 목적은 16세기 서양의 갑옷을 소재로하여 현대 패션의상을 창작하는 것이다. 연구의 범위는 선정된 갑옷의 구조를 분석한 후 특징들을 응용하여 8개의 의상을 창작하였으며 아도베 일러스트레이터를 이용하여 그 결과를 도식화와 일러스트레이션으로 제시하였다. 16세기 갑옷은 조각적인 형태, 장식적인 외형, 과학적인 조합구조, 방호적 기능, 그리고 관능미 등으로 특징 지어진다. 디자인에 응용된 소재는 막스밀리안 갑옷의 플릇 주름(골진 세로주름)과 비사쥬(겨드랑이 보호대), 보병결투 갑옷의 판금 조합 구성과 에뽈리에르(어깨받이), 토너먼트 갑옷의 보강보호재, 그리고 직업군인 갑옷의 슬래쉬 등 이다. 연구결과, 갑옷은 포스트모더니즘적인 조형 의상을 디자인하는데 무한한 창의성을 제공하는 소재임을 알 수 있었다.
