This paper is to analyze the internet's role for psychological base of formation of regional community, with the empirical study in the Home page of Mokpo city. The wave of globalization and informatization drives paradoxically the growing concern on the local or the regional, that makes them a new space of social life and identity. In this changing environment, the regional authority wish to give regional members the effective chance of different informations and communications, psychological base of formation of regional community. It is not free from this significant mission, Mokpo city offer the possibilities of access to the diverse information and communication, utilizing its Home page.

이 연구는 목포시청 홈페이지 분석을 통해 인터넷이 지역공동체 형성의 심리적 기반을 위해 수행하는 역할을 살펴보고자 한다. 세계화․정보화의 흐름은 역설적으로 지방에 대한 새로운 관심 증대로 이어지고 있으며 이는 지방이 삶과 정체성의 새로운 영역으로 등장하는 것을 유도하고 있다. 이런 차원에서 지방은 인터넷이라는 새로운 매체를 통해 지역민들을 대상으로 지역공동체 형성의 심리적 기반인 정보제공과 의사소통의 기회를 제공하고자 한다. 목포시 또한 이러한 시대적 과제로부터 벗어나 있지 않는데, 시는 홈페이지를 통해 다양한 지역 정보들과 의사소통의 가능성을 마련하고 있다.
