North Korean female defectors, who escape from North Korea to immigrate to South Korea, are gradually growing, but they are mentally, physically and socially suffering by various traumas in the process of escape from North Korea.
This study was made to understand their trauma within North Korea, trauma in the process of escape from North Korea and traumatic symptoms, and inquire into how these traumatic experience has an effect on the life satisfaction in South Korea. The result of this study is as follows.
It showed that traumatic symptoms have a significant negative effect on the quality of whole life (p<.05). In other words, if traumatic symptoms rise, the quality of their whole life lowers.
Consequently, this study showed the political and practical meaning, and proposal for social welfare of North Korean female defectors living in South Korea on the basis of above mentioned result.

최근 북한을 탈출하여 남한에 입국하는 북한이탈여성이 지속적으로 증가하고 있는데, 북한이탈여성들은 탈북과정에서 다양한 외상경험으로 인해 정신적, 육체적, 사회적으로 고통을 받고 있다. 본 연구는 남한에서 생활하고 있는 북한이탈여성의 북한 내 외상, 탈북과정에서의 외상, 외상 증상을 파악하고, 이러한 외상 경험이 남한에서의 삶의 만족에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보기 위해 이루어졌다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 외상증상이 전체 삶의 만족에 통계적으로 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났는데(p<.05), 이는 외상증상이 높아지면 북한이탈여성의 삶의 만족은 낮아지는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 남한에서 생활하고 있는 북한이탈여성의 사회복지적 함의와 제언을 제시하였다.
