A Study on the Properties of Hydration Heat of Mass Concrete using Blast-Furnace Slag Cement and Fly-ash

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the properties of hydration heat of mass concrete using blast-furnace slag cement and fly-ash based on the replacement ratio of fly-ash and elapsed time. For this purpose, concrete blocks are manufactured and hydration heat of concrete are measured. Also, analysis of replacement ratios to the properties of hydration heat of mass concrete are conducted. Replacement ratios used in this study are 10%, 15% and 20% to weight of blast-furnace slag cement. By the experiments and analysis, according to increasing replacement ratio, hydration heat is decreased and elapsed time to peak temperature is delayed. The more fly-ash are replaced, increasing and decreasing rate of hydration heat are reduced. After 96 hours are passed, the properties of hydration heat of concrete are similar, regardless how much it has replaced fly-ash.
