Experiment on Reduction Effect of CO2 Concentration with Indoor Plants under Illuminance Condition in Office

Modern people are interested in improvement of Indoor Environmental Quality(IEQ) because the people stay for a long time over 80% of the day in the indoor. In recent year, many people use the Indoor Plant(IP) for the improvement of IEQ in work place and dwelling and some researchers conduct experiment on the reduction of CO2 with the IP in chamber test. But the experiments are conducted under illuminance condition approximately 1,500~3,000lx. However, the actual average condition of illuminance in the office was approximately 400~800lux. The Purpose of this research is support that the people choose the effective plant for the improvement of IEQ in the office through the experiment on the reduction of CO2 with the IP in the actual illuminance condition of office. The procedure of this experiment is following 1) construct the
experiment system which the IAQ measuring instrument set and the glazing small chamber(0.45m×0.45m×0.45m) 2) put the subject plants in the chamber 3) fill a chamber with the CO2 as 1,000~1,200ppm 4) measure the concentration of CO2 during 9 hour(09:00~18:00). In conclusion, the CO2 reduction[ppm/1000㎠·9h] of IPs Weeping fig 1172.58, Peace lily 1050.74, Areca palm 780.74, English ivy 746.21, Golden pothos 461.64, Japanese fatsia 233.08 on the daylighting and
artificial lighting 300lx, and Weeping fig 1392.22, English ivy 875.61, Peace lily 612.88, Areca palm 594.12, Japanese fatsia 486.44, Golden pothos 318.23 on the artificial lighting 1000lx.
