Flob(Floral Object) is a sculptural object which is a combination of various new formative plant materials created through experimentations(i.e. disintegration and cropping of plants) appearing first in the 1960s. An analysis based on Flobs created between 1960 upto 2008 illustrates that separation technique of plants(especially that of root, stem, foliage and flower) were most popular with 72%, soon followed by assemblage technique of 63.5% and collage which were 36.5%. Regarding the assemblage and collage experimentations, layering(17.5%) and gluing(36%) were shown to be the most practised. For the future of Flob and the development in the area, further research and continuous experimentations are to be encouraged.

Flob(floral object)이란 1960년대 유럽에서 처음 등장한 화훼조형의 한 양식으로 식물재료의 분해, 절단에 의해 발견된 새로운 조형 요소들을 재조합하여 창조된 식물로 만들어진 조각과 같은 형태의 물체이다. 1960년대부터 2008년까지 Flob 작품 200점을 분석한 결과, 식물 소재의 해체에는 식물을 뿌리, 줄기, 잎, 꽃 등으로 분해하는 구성 요소 분해가 72%로 가장 많이 이용되었고, 조합에서는 Assemblage 유형이 63.5%, Collage 유형이 36.5%로 Assemblage 유형이 더 선호되고 있었으며, Collage와 Assemblage 표현에 이용되는 화훼조형 표현 기법은 각각 Layering(17.5%), Gluing(36%)이 가장 선호되는 방법이었다. Flob의 발전을 위해서는 보다 다양한 기법의 응용, 새로운 기법에 대한 개발과 탐구가 필요할 것으로 생각된다.
