This study aims at comparing and analyzing about elements and principles of design in the green roof sites where domestic and exotic. After it put to use on construction of the green roof sites. Domestic examples are generally showing similar molding pattern of type, unity and simple. Exotic examples are express elements and principles of design not only point, line, plane, form, texture, unity, variation, emphasis and repetition but also symmetry, balance and harmony.
According to this study, it show being expressed through elements and principles of design. We knew that the design was made by the following methods and standards.
- Express the line, plane and texture by pattern of paving in green roof sites.
- Plant is one of factors and express the repetition and change.
- The facilities are apply to repetition and change from point to line.
- The water emphasize the change in space as plane and form.
As a result of utilizing 4 ways above, these methods has showed the harmony between the green roof site and the elements, principles of design theories. Also, domestic examples have limit like similar and fragmentary repetition to compare with various form of exotic examples. Finally, we have concluded that various ways and trials to apply elements and principles of design continuously by this study.

본 연구에서는 국내 및 국외의 옥상 녹화 사례에서 디자인의 요소와 원리를 비교․분석하여 옥상 녹화 시공 시 디자인 요소 및 원리를 활용하고자 하였다. 국내 및 국외의 옥상 녹화 적용 사례를 통해 디자인의 요소와 원리를 비교․분석해 본 결과, 국내의 사례는 전반적으로 비슷한 유형의 조형적 패턴을 보였으며, 비교적 획일화 되어 있고 단순하였다. 국외의 사례에서는 점, 선, 면, 형태, 질감, 통일, 변화, 강조, 반복 이외에도 대칭, 균형, 조화 등의 디자인의 요소와 원리가 다양하게 표현되었음을 볼 수 있었다.
위와 같이 옥상 녹화 대상지의 설계 요소는 디자인적인 요소와 원리를 활용하여 다양하게 표현되고 있음을 보여 주었는데, 그 다양성 안에서 다음과 같은 방법과 기준을 이용하여 디자인한 것을 알 수 있었다.
- 옥상 녹화 대상지의 포장 패턴으로 선과 면 그리고 질감을 표현함.
- 옥상 녹화 대상지의 식재는 점적인 요소인 동시에 반복과 변화를 표현함.
- 옥상 녹화 대상지의 시설물은 점에서 선을 이루면서 반복과 통일의 원리를 적용함.
- 옥상 녹화 대상지의 물요소는 면적이며 형태로서 공간에 변화를 주어 강조함.
위와 같은 4가지 방법을 이용한 결과, 옥상 녹화 대상지와 디자인의 요소 및 원리가 조
화를 이룬 것을 알 수 있었다. 다양한 형태의 국외 사례에 비해 국내 사례는 유사하고 단
편적인 패턴의 반복이라는 한계점 또한 발견할 수 있었다.
