There are much disorders of arranging works and errors with writers and works in Tongmoonseon(｢동문선｣. Even if we make investigation into the text laying stress on poems, serious errors are more than thirty cases. Among them, a work which comes under excluded style and duplicate edited works are found, and changing the writers cases are frequent too. Such cases are clearly serious defect as a national important bibliography. Therefore a full textual criticism shall have to be carried into execution for this book early. This investigation into important errors in Tongmoonseon are able to regarded as a kind of textual criticism. This work requires an elaborate and complicate inspection. But the result is difficult to be estimated fine. On the other hand, It is easy to bring about a peril by the fallacy of inconclusive investigation. Despite of a risk, the reason why I attempted this study is derived from reflection on atmosphere neglecting to fundamental works at text. I hope this thought will give rise to some full-scale text criticism Tongmoonseon.

｢동문선｣은 작품을 수록한 순서의 혼란, 작가․작품과 관련된 오류와 부주의가 심한 문헌이다. 시를 중심으로 대략 살피더라도 사소하지 않은 착오가 30여건 이상 발견되며, 그 가운데에는 배제하고자 한 문체의 작품을 싣고, 같은 작품을 중복 수록하며, 작가가 바뀌는 등 심각한 사례들이 포함되어 있다. 한문 문헌은 글자의 숫자와 유사자형이 많은 탓에 착오가 많게 마련이고, 필사와 판각과정의 실수도 생기기 쉽다. 그러나 이를 감안하더라도, 국가적인 사업으로 편간한 중요한 문헌으로서는 이러한 착오들이 심각한 결함이 아닐 수 없다. 따라서 이 책 전반에 대한 텍스트비평이 더욱 자세히 이루어져야 할 것이다. 이 글에서 다룬 텍스트의 착오의 검증은 보아 텍스트 비평의 일종으로서, 세심하고 번거로운 점검을 필요로 하는 작업이다. 그러나 결과가 크게 주목받기 어려운 한편으로, 불철저로 인한 오류를 범할 위험성은 크다. 이를 무릅쓰고서 모험을 감행함은 문헌의 중요성만 강조하고 기초적 작업은 등한시해 온 풍토에 대한 반성 때문이므로, 이를 계기로 이제라도 본격적인 텍스트 비평이 조속히 이루어지기를 요망한다.
