With the establishment of diplomatic relation between Korea and China, many literature scholars have done comparative researches on the literature in two countries through various methods. There is a distinctive meaning in the comparative research between Korean and Chinese literature in that it not only helps the development of the literature, but also promotes cultural exchange between two countries. Focusing on this point, this article will explore two works, by Korean author Hyeon Jin Geon and by Chinese author Lao She, using thematic comparative methods. Using rickshaman as their main characters, the two works have many similarities and differences in themes, characters, and narrative techniques. Hyeon Jin Geon and Lao She had no influences with each other, but there are numerous resemblances as well as differences. In order to find out the reasons, this article studied the two authors’ personal experience, values, and ideology under the social and historical backgrounds. As a result, it turned out that the existence of the poverty experience, colonial and civil war circumstances, and different views on traditions and conventionality played crucial roles on differentiating two works.

한중 수교 이후 많은 문학연구자들이 한중 양국의 문학을 다양한 방법으로 비교 연구해왔다. 한중 문학의 비교연구는 양국의 문학 발전에 도움이 될 뿐만 아니라 양국의 문화교류도 촉진할 수 있다는 점에 큰 의의를 지닌다. 본고는 이 점에 착목하여 한국 작가 현진건의 <운수 좋은 날>과 중국 작가 노사의 <낙타상자>를 주제론적 비교 연구의 방법으로 비교 고찰하였다. 이 두 작품은 인력거꾼을 제재로 한 작품으로 제재와 인물의 성격은 물론 주제나 창작 방법의 면에서 많은 유사성과 함께 적지 않은 차이점들이 발견된다. 현진건과 노사는 서로 영향을 주고받지 않았는데 두 작품에 이렇게 많은 유사성을 보이면서도 또 차이점을 드러내는 원인을 밝히기 위해 본고에서는 작가의 개인적 경력 및 가치관과 이념 그리고 작가가 작품을 창작하던 당시의 사회와 역사 배경 등을 집중적으로 검토하였다. 그 결과 가난 체험의 유무, 식민지 상황과 내전 상황, 전통적인 인습에 대한 관점의 차이 등이 두 작품 사이의 차이점을 유발한 것으로 평가하였다.
