The importance of educating the youth, who are going to be leading future society, cannot be too much emphasized. Even though in the past home and schools played a crucial role on youth education, but time passed, the roles of home education have gradually decreased. Also, school educations encountered a lot of limit in roles because the features of society has been changed. As a solution to these problems, the roles of youth training courses increased. Because of this, central government, local government, and private organizations are gradually building youth training facilities and lots of facilities should be built continuously. Among these youth training facilities, 'Youth Culture Center' should play a role as the basic training course because it will be located near the youth communities. However, currently, there are many problems in building these facilities. They are various from structural problems according to irrational order of building facilities to facility constructions without principles due to lack of architectural criteria. The purpose of this research is to solve these problems. Hereby, this research will suggest basic guidelines for Youth Culture Center.

미래사회를 이끌어 나갈 주역인 청소년의 교육은 그 중요성을 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않다. 과거 청소년교육은 가정과 학교가 분담해왔으나 시간이 흐르며 사회의 모습과 행태가 급격히 변화하며 가정의 역할은 점차 줄어들게 되었고, 학교 역시 그 역할에 있어 많은 한계에 봉착하게 되었다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 대안으로서 청소년수련시설의 역할은 그 비중이 높아지게 되었으며, 이로 인해 중앙정부, 지방자치단체 및 민간업체에 의한 시설의 건립이 점차 늘어나고 있으며, 지속적으로 많은 수의 시설이 건립되어야 하는 실정이다. 이러한 청소년수련시설 중에서도 특히 '청소년문화의집'은 지역사회 청소년의 제일 가까운 주변에 머물러야 하는 시설로서 그 비중이 가장 크며, 기본이 되는 수련시설로서 역할을 수행하여야 한다. 그러나 현재 청소년문화의집 건립에는 여러 가지 문제점을 수반하고 있다. 시설 건립 절차상의 불합리한 순서에 따른 구조적인 문제점에서 부터 건립지침의 미비에 따른 주먹구구식의 무원칙적인 시설건립 등이 그것이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점에 대한 해결을 위한 청소년문화의집 건립에 관한 기본적인 시설지침을 제안하고자 한다.
