This paper is a comparative study on Seon of Bojo-Jinul with that of Sotaesan-Pakjungbin. I made the sameness and the difference clear within their Seon through the explanation of the following six problems. First, how does Sotaesan-Pakjungbin, the founder of Won Buddhism, accept Bojo-Jinul's Seon? Secondly, how do Bojo and Sotaesan approach and explain Seon? Thirdly, how do they understand 'the mind', the object of enlightenment? Fourthly, what do they present about the method to practice and enlighten 'the mind'? I explained comparatively about the method with Donojeomsu(the Sudden Enlightenment and Gradual Cultivation) of Bojo and the Enlightenment to the Nature, Fostering the Nature, and Utilization the Nature of Sotaesan. Fifthly, what do they present as the concrete contents of practicing Seon? I divided into two parts of Bojo's Jeong-hyea-ssang-su(practice of both meditation and wisdom) and Sotaesan's Mu-si-seon(practice meditation continually). Sixthly, how do they understand the method to enlighten through Hwadu and why do they present these practicing ways? About those problems, I compared Bojo's Kanhwa Seon(Meditation) with Sotaesan's Euduyeonma(Training in Abstruse Questions).

본고는 보조 지눌과 소태산 박중빈의 선사상을 비교한 논문이다. 모두 여섯 가지의 문제의식에 대한 해명을 통하여 지눌과 박중빈 선사상의 동이점을 밝히고 있다. 첫째, ‘원불교의 창시자인 소태산 박중빈은 지눌의 선(禪)을 어떻게 수용하고 있는가?’ 하는 문제이다. 둘째, ‘지눌과 소태산은 선(禪)을 어떠한 방식으로 설명하여 접근하고 있는가?’ 하는 문제이다. 셋째, ‘깨침의 대상으로서 ‘마음’에 대하여 지눌과 소태산은 어떻게 이해하고 있는가?’하는 문제이다. 넷째, ‘마음을 깨치고 닦아 나아가는 방법에 대하여 지눌과 소태산이 제시한 것은 무엇인가?’하는 문제이다. 이에 대하여 지눌의 돈오점수와 소태산의 견성ㆍ솔성ㆍ양성으로 나누어 비교하여 설명하였다. 다섯째, ‘구체적인 선수행의 내용으로 지눌과 소태산이 제시한 것은 무엇인가?’하는 문제이다. 이에 대하여 지눌의 정혜쌍수와 소태산의 무시선으로 나누어 비교하고자여 설명하였다. 여섯째, ‘화두를 통하여 깨달음에 들어가는 방법에 대하여 지눌과 소태산은 어떻게 이해하고 있고, 이러한 수행법을 제시한 이유는 무엇인가?’하는 문제이다. 이에 대하여 지눌의 간화선과 소태산의 의두연마로 나누어 비교하여 설명하였다.
