According to the Korea National Statistical Office(KNSO), 12,174 people killed themselves in 2007. It means an average of 33.3 people committed suicide in Korea every day. South Korea’s suicide rate is the highest among the members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD).
Suicide is second leading cause of death among adolescence.
According to a recent survey by the state－run Korea Youth Counseling Institute, 2,699(58.8 percent) of 4,700 middle and high school students said they had thought of suicide. The poll found that teenagers felt suicidal urges when they experienced conflict with parents and other family members, felt deprived of hope or had trouble with friends.
The following response is designed to help Christian counselor offer counsel to adolescence who has admitted having passing thoughts of suicide. The first step is the individual’s particular appraisal of the situation. The second step is achieving contact with the adolescence in crisis. a relationship of trust and empathy is no less important in crisis intervention than in any other form of counseling.
The third step is the essentially involve acting strategies. The fourth step is the Follow－up of the Counseling Process. It deepens counselor relationship with them and reaffirms counselor caring. It determines if they are continuing to do what is needed to help with their crisis.

한국은 자살로 사망한 사람이 하루 평균 33.3명에 이르며, 자살 증가율은 OECD 국가 중에서 가장 높은 수치를 차지하고 있다. 특히, 자살은 한국 10대 청소년들의 사망원인 2위에 속하며 수치 또한 급속하게 증가하고 있다. 청소년 상담원 연구에 의하면, 한국 청소년들의 58.8%가 자살을 생각했던 경험이 있
는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 청소년 자살문제는 기독교 청소년들에게도 예외가 되지 않음을 연구를 통하여 알 수 있었다.
본 연구를 통해서 나타난 청소년 자살 원인은 개인적 변인, 가족환경 변인, 또래관련 변인, 학교 환경 및 사회변인 등 다양한 변수에 기인되며, 특별히 개인변인 가운데 자살사이트 방문경험, 흡연·음주 등 약물사용 정도, 성차, 우울과 절망감, 공격 및 충동성 정도가 청소년 자살과 밀접한 관련이 있음이 조사
되었다.
본 연구에서 청소년 자살예방을 위한 기독교 위기상담방법으로 제시된 통합적 모델에 대한 상담과정은, 청소년 자살위기 상황 예측 및 평가, 위기상담의 관계형성(참여적 이해, 용납하고 수용함, 적극적인 경청), 문제해결을 위한 위기개입(문제의 핵심 파악과 명료화, 직면과 소망 심어주기, 문제해결을 위한
목표수립과 행동시행), 상담종결과 추후상담 등이다.
