This study develops a new approach to children’s sermons. The study examines the problems with using the only preaching method to children audience of a diversity and offers its feasible solution to the current children’s sermon practice. It contends that a variety of sermon methods, not limited to traditional oral-verbal methods, can appeal to a diversity of children audience with higher fairness and effectiveness.
To develop a new preaching methodology for children’s sermon, the study first describes Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory as a foundation of its new approach to children’s sermon. The study has found that the children audience are those with variety in terms of intelligences in the brain. It also puts its emphasis on his theory’s impact on educational field in the United States and presents its significance for preaching methodology as well. To show who children audience are, the study presents children as a unique audience from the viewpoint of children’s worship and children’s developmental stage theories. In addition, attention is given to gender differences in children’s brain function. Accordingly, the study claims that children need to have their own, developmentally appropriate worship service and sermons.
Finally, the study presents its new approach to children’s sermon methodology, which the author calls Multiple Intelligences Preaching Methodology. For a better fairness and effectiveness, MIPM employs the spectrum of multiple intelligences that all children possess. She develops a variety of specific preaching methods according to each intelligence.

이 연구는 어린이설교에 대한 새로운 접근 방식을 개발하고 있다. 본 연구는 다양성을 지닌 어린이청중에게 획일적인 설교방법을 쓰고 있는 현행의 관행을 점검하고 실현가능한 해결책을 제시하고 있다. 전통적으로 써 오고 있는 언어적-구두설교방법에 국한시키지 않고 다양한 설교방법을 사용하면 좀 더 공평하고 효과적으로 어린이청중에게 호소할 수 있을 것을 주장한다.
새로운 어린이 설교방법론을 도출하기 위해서, 본 연구는 먼저 새로운 어린이설교 접근 방식의 초석으로서 Howard Gardner의 복수 지능 이론을 기술한다. 본 연구는 어린이는 뇌 속의 지능이라는 면에서 볼 때 다양성을 가진 청중임을 발견한다. 또한 Gardner의 이론이 미국의 교육계에 끼친 막대한 영향을 살피고, 설교방법론에도 중대한 의미를 가지고 있음을 강조한다. 어린이 설교방법론을 개발할 때 어린이청중의 어떤 점을 고려해야 하는지를 보여주기 위해, 본 연구는 어린이예배 그리고 어린이 발달 단계 이론 등의 관점에서 어린이가 어른과는 독특한 청중임을 제시하고 있다. 따라서 어린이는 어린이에 맞게 디자인된 예배와 설교가 제공되어져야 함을 주장한다.
마지막으로, 본 연구는 새로운 어린이 설교방법론을 제시한다. 이 방법론을 저자는 복수 지능 설교방법론이라고 부르고 있다. 복수 지능 설교방법론은 모든 어린이가 소유하고 있는 복수 지능을 설교방법에 사용한다. 저자가 각 지능에 따른 구체적인 설교방법들의 예를 제시하였다.
