We start this research with an awareness of the urgency of church’sepoch-making participation in social service and shared for the need ofspirituality for church’s social service in Korean society in the globaleconomic crisis. For this research we have discovered that there is aneed to clearly define biblically the concept of spirituality which hasbeen in confusion, as we were able to understand the relation betweenspirituality and sociality in terms of the Trinity－the nucleus of spiritu-ality and sociality is the agape love of the triune God.Surprisingly, it was evident by principle that when the conservative churchlay stress on spirituality and neglected sociality their spirituality itselfwas weakened as well as the sociality, whereas when the progressivechurch placed emphasis on sociality and disregarded spirituality, the out-come was that their sociality as well as the spirituality was enfeebled. In the last section we refer to the uniqueness and the necessity of Trinitarianspirituality in relation to the church’s social service, and then suggestthe threefold church social service, that is, a transcendent social servicerelating to the Father, an immanent social service relating to the Son,and a present and communicational social service relating to the HolySpirit.

이 공동연구는 글로벌 경제위기에 처한 한국사회에 교회 사회봉사의 획기적인 참여의 긴급성을 인식하는 동시에 교회 사회봉사에서 영성의 필요성을 공감하는 데서 출발한다. 이를 위하여 우리는 혼돈 속에 있는 영성의 개념을 성경적으로 명료하게 밝히고, 영성과 사회성의 관계를 삼위일체적으로 이해하게 되었는데, 영성과 사회성의 중심내용은 삼위일체 하나님의 아가페 사랑이다. 놀랍게도 보수적 교회가 영성에 치중하여 사회성을 소홀히 한 결과 사회성뿐 아니라 영성자체도 약화되고, 진보적 교회가 사회성에 치중하여 영성을 소홀히 한 결과 영성뿐 아니라 사회성 자체도 약화되는 것이 원리적으로 드러났다. 끝으로 우리는 교회 사회봉사와 관련하여 삼위일체적 영성의 필요성과 그 독특성을 말한 후, 삼중적(threefold) 교회 사회봉사, 즉 아버지와 관련한 초월적 사회봉사, 아들과 관련한 내재적 사회봉사, 그리고 성령과 관련한 임재와 소통적 사회봉사를 제시한다.
