This paper is the study about the Great Commission in Matthew, asthe starting point of evangelism that all the Christians should practice.And it is the discussion about the necessity of evangelism. Evangelismis indispensable not because of the church growth but the GreatCommission.The Great Commission in Matthew has been investigated in the viewof Missiology or Christian Education. There have been a few studiesthat considered it in the view of the Theology of Evangelism, but theyhave failed to illuminate all aspects of the Great Commission. So in this paper, firstly I analyzed the Great Commission in Matthewfrom the grammatical viewpoint, after that I examined and suggestedthe meaning of it entirely and concretely from the standpoint of theTheology of Evangelism. For this can be possible, I did historiographicalreview of the Great Commission, and found errors among them, afterthat I dug up the evangelical meaning of it. And through that, I sug-gested the object people, ways, and the ultimate goal of evangelism.Briefly, in this thesis I deduced the overall meaning, the stages, andthe goal of evangelism from the Great Commission in Matthew.

본 논문은 그리스도인들이 실천해야 할 복음전도의 출발점이 예수님이 주신 지상명령, 특별히 마태복음의 지상명령에 나타나 있음을 규명하였다. 이것은 전도를 해야 할 당위성에 관한 문제이기도 하다. 전도의 당위성은 교회성장의 방편이 되기 때문이 아닌 지상명령에서 찾아야 하는 것이다. 마태복음에 나타난 지상명령은 지금까지 주로 선교학적인 관점이나 기독교 교육학적인 관점에서 조명되어 왔다. 드물게 이것을 전도학적 관점에서 서술한 글들이 있지만 이들 또한 지상명령의 전체를 설명하기보다는 부분적인 강조에 그치고 말았다. 이에 본 논문은 마태복음의 지상명령을 문법적으로 먼저 분석한 뒤, 그것이 전도학적 측면에서 구체적으로 어떻게 규정될 수 있는지를 제시하였다. 이를 위해 지금까지의 지상명령의 해석사를 서술하고 그 안에서 잘못된 부분과 발전시켜야 할 부분을 지적한 뒤, 문법적인 분석방법 안에서 복음전도의 의미를 해석하는 방법을 취하였다. 그리고 이러한 해석을 통하여 복음전도의 대상, 방법, 그리고 최종목적을 밝혀내었다. 본 논문은 지상명령의 한 문장만을 가지고 복음전도의 통전적인 개념과, 복음전도의 단계, 그리고 최종 지향점을 정립한 연구라 할 수 있다.
