This study was conducted to explore the differences in the adjustment to college life according to the level of narcissism of pre-teachers and the relationships among their narcissism and adjustment to college life. The participants in this study were 93 college students. They were measured for their narcissism and adjustment to college life. The collected data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance(ANOVA) and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of this study show that 1) There were significant differences in the adjustment to college life among the groups by the level of narcissism in which the healthy narcissism group was higher than the other groups in the adjustment to college life; 2) Three factors of narcissism(healthy grandiose self, defensive idealized parent image, and healthy idealized parent image) had significant relationships with the adjustment to college life among which grandiose self was the most important factor in predicting the adjustment to college life. The implications of these results were discussed and the further studies were suggested.

본 연구는 사범대학 학생들을 대상으로 자기애 수준에 따라 대학생활 적응에 차이가 있는지, 자기애의 각 요인이 어느 정도 대학생활 적응을 설명하고 있는지를 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 본 연구에서는 도청 소재지에 소재한 2개의 대학에 재학 중인 사범대학 학생 93명(국립 65명, 사립 28명)을 대상으로 하였다. 본 연구 결과, 사범대학 학생들의 자기애 수준에 따라 대학생활 적응에 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 건강한 자기애가 높고 방어적 자기애가 낮은 수준인 건강 집단이 건강한 자기애와 방어적 자기애가 모두 높은 수준인 혼재 집단, 건강한 자기애와 방어적 자기애가 모두 낮은 수준인 비자기 집단, 건강한 자기애가 낮고 방어적 자기애가 높은 수준인 방어 집단보다 대학생활 적응을 유의미한 수준(F=22.72, p=.000)에서 더 잘하는 것으로 나타났다. 자기애의 여러 차원의 특성들 중 건강한 과대자기 영역(34%)이 사범대학 학생들의 대학생활 적응을 가장 잘 설명하는 변인으로 나타났으며, 다음으로 방어적 이상화된 부모원상, 건강한 이상화된 부모원상 영역이 대학생활 적응을 설명하는 변인으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 본 연구 결과의 시사점에 대해 논의하고, 후속 연구의 필요성을 제안하였다.
