The purpose of this study is to provide implications for competency development for pre-service teachers and to find the suggestions for improvement in teaching practicum program. For the purpose, this study conduct the analysis and discussion for the differences and relationships between ‘the level of competency significance’ that puts an added emphasis on pre-service teacher and ‘the level of current competency’ which is expected from pre-service teacher before and after teaching practicum program. The implications for competency development for pre-service teachers and teaching practicum program are as follows. First, the preliminary data should be collected for the improvement for teaching practicum program. Secondly, teaching practicum program should be connected with programs and system to provide the practical experience and opportunity of teaching and learning. Thirdly, future study has a necessity to prescribe the needed competency based on teacher job analysis and to departmentalize competency with essential and advanced. Finally, various studies should conduct for detailed identification of competence change using various methods such as observations, interview, and reflection paper (journal) writings.

본 연구는 예비교사의 교원양성 프로그램의 활성화와 질적 향상을 위해 교육실습과 교사역량의 중요성을 인식하고, 예비교사들의 역량개발에 도움을 줄 수 있는 교육실습 운영 및 프로그램 개선 방안을 모색해보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 교육실습 전ㆍ후, 예비교사들의 역량중요도 수준과 역량 수준 간 차이를 분석하고 논의하였다. 연구를 위한 설문도구는 선행연구를 통하여 교사직무유형과 역량항목을 선정․수정하였고, 최종 선정된 항목들은 역량중요도 수준, 현재역량 수준으로 나누어 각각 Likert 5점 척도를 사용하여 예비교사들의 역량변화를 측정하는데 활용하였다. 설문지는 총 136부가 수집되었으며, 수집된 자료는 대응표본 t-test를 통하여 분석되었다. 이 연구를 통한 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 예비교사들을 대상으로 교육적 요구분석을 실시하여 교육실습 프로그램의 개선에 도움을 줄 수 있는 기초 자료를 마련해야 한다. 둘째, 예비교사들의 역량을 개발, 강화하기 위해 실제적인 교수 기회와 경험들을 제공할 수 있는 제도와 교육실습프로그램이 연계되어야 할 것이다. 셋째, 교사 직무분석을 바탕으로 필요한 역량을 규정하고, 기초 역량 및 핵심 역량으로 좀 더 세분화하여 제시할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 관찰, 면담, 반성저널쓰기 등 다양한 연구방법론을 활용하여 좀 더 세부적으로 역량변화를 확인할 수 있어야 한다.
