This paper is about the Great Village Campaign as the motive of a direct-evangelism which was done by the Holiness Church in its early ages. Although there are many methods and evangelical groups are existing today, it is still meaningful to study 100 years passed evangelical movement. Because the Great Village Campaign focused on the essence of evangelism -'winning soul', so it must be revived in this essence-weaken but a method-ridden age. In this perspective it is worthwhile to illuminate and evaluate this subject.If a fruitful model of a direct-evangelism and a successful precedent remains in Korea, successors would be easy to follow and work. Actually the Holiness Church became one united religious body through this evangelical movement. So this fruitful Great Village Campaign has many important points to study.The Great Village Campaign lead by Oriental Missionary Society, started, processed and finished just for proclaiming the Gospel to all the people of Japan. And in Korea it was continued through the Oriental Missionary Society. It concentrated on winning soul by direct-evangelism, and bringing up soul by proclaiming Gospel of Holiness. In Korea the Great Village Campaign was changed by the name of 'THE Village Band Campaign', 'THE Market Band Campaign' and 'THE Tent Meeting Campaign' to their respective features. By this direct-evangelism movement, the Korean Evangelical Holiness Church was finally founded in Korea where there was no special basis. Even today, essence - based and motivation - preceded discipline is needed for arising wining - soul movement through evangelism. Above all, we must keep in mind that the most crucial thing is to breed up 'the burning win soul evangelists'. So we should devote ourselves to breeding up evangelists even if it takes quite some time. The Great Village Campaign was the method of evangelism in the Early Christianity and it is also an earnestly needed evangelism in today's Christianity.

본 논문은 초기 성결교회가 행한 직접전도운동의 모티브로서의 대거 부락 전도운동을 고찰하였다. 전도의 방법이 난무하고, 수많은 전도 단체가 존재해 있는 오늘날, 100년이 지나간 전도운동을 고찰하고자 하는 목적은 대거 부락 전도운동이 영혼구원이라는 전도의 본질적인 일에 목적을 둔 직접 전도 운동이기에 그 의미가 크고, 본질이 희석되어져 가고 방법만이 판치는 이 시대에 교파를 초월하여 다시 이 땅에 회복되어져야 할 전도 본질의 운동기에 그 운동을 조명하고 평가하는데 의의가 있다고 할 것이다. 또한 성결교회가 이미 이 전도운동을 통하여 하나의 교단으로 설립되는 열매 맺은 방법이기에 그 의가 있다. 왜냐하면 한국 땅에서 직접 전도를 통한 열매의 모범이 있다면, 그리고 이미 성공적으로 수행한 선구자가 있다면 뒤따라가는 자들이 좀 더 수월하게, 그리고 시행착오 없이 따라가고 일할 수 있기 때문이다.대거 부락 전도운동은 동양선교회를 주축으로 일본 전역에 있는 모든 사람들에게 복음을 들려주려는 취지로 시작되었고 진행되었으며 마무리 되었다. 그리고 그 노하우를 바탕으로 동양선교회를 통하여 한국으로 이어져 온 전도운동이다. 다분히 직접 복음을 전하여 영혼을 구원하고자 하는데 그 초점이 있었고 성결의 진리를 전하여 온전히 신앙을 성장시키는데 초점이 있었다. 한국에 들어와서는 전도대의 특징에 따라 지방전도대, 시장전도대, 장막전도대라는 이름으로 활동하였고, 아무 기반이 없는 한국에서 직접전도의 결과로 성결교단의 설립이라는 열매를 맺게 하였다. 오늘날에도 복음전도를 통한 영혼구원의 운동이 활발히 일어나기 위해서는 영혼을 살리는데 초점을 둔 전도 본질에 충실한 훈련이 필요하며, 방법보다는 동기부여가 먼저 선행되어야 할 것이다. 또한 구령에 불타오르는 전도자의 양성이 무엇보다도 중요함을 명심하여 시간이 걸리더라도 전도자를 양성하는데 많은 노력을 기울여야 한다. 이것이 초대교회의 전도방법이었고, 오늘날에도 이 시대가 요청하는 복음전도를 위한 중요한 요소임은 자명하다.
