Throughout the history of mankind, material or money has always been an indispensible and important means for living. However it has not brought happiness but caused misery or distress, both in home and society. As it has created much trouble in even a God-serving church community, and spoiled credibility, there are often criticisms from society. Recognizing this viewpoint, this study discusses the life of stewardship and tries to suggest the desirable direction of church preaching about material things and money.The study views the matter from a Biblical standpoint and clarifies the meaning of collection, so as to let Christians learn how to treat and use possessions as trusted stewards. It also leads saints to live a self-sufficient life and teach them about the temptation and danger of material wealth. Furthermore, it guides them to lay up their treasure in Heaven. It helps preachers to give an expository sermon on materialism through the whole biblical text, to undergo stewardship training with patience, to present clearly the method of using how church collection, and to give a motivation for offering. Also, it persuades ministers to live as an example for the saints.Lastly, for an effective sermon on collection, saints are supposed to know that offering is an essential part of worship and offering attitude is very important. Therefore, preachers need to give a sermon on the collection without hesitation and encourage members not to give their offering with a sense of duty and guilty conscience. Always church visitors and non-believers have the freewill to give their offering as they wish.Preachers should deliver definitely the message of God's promise and the biblical reward and lead the saints to participate in godly ministry through their offering. To accomplish this, ministers need to understand the principles of stewardship life through biblical viewpoint of material thing, to practice this view himself, and to teach and preach clearly how the saints are to train themselves.

인류 역사가운데서 물질이나 돈은 언제나 필요하며 삶의 중요한 수단으로 존재하여 왔다. 그러나 많은 부분에서 그것들은 인간의 행복을 가져다주기 보다는 가정이나 사회에 불행이나 환난을 불러일으켜 왔다. 심지어는 오늘날 하나님을 섬기는 교회 공동체내에서도 물질 문제로 많은 문제점들이 야기되어 사회에 덕이 되지 못하고 비난을 받는 경우가 종종 생기게 되었다. 이러한 인식하에 본 연구를 통해 그리스도인들의 청지기적인 삶을 논하고 그것을 위해 교회의 목회자들이 어떻게 성도들에게 헌금에 관한 설교를 할 것인가에 대하여 방향성을 제시하려고 하였다. 그리스도인은 위탁받은 청지기로서 어떻게 돈과 물질을 관리하며 또 그것을 어떻게 사용할 것인가를 배우기 위해서 성경적인 물질관을 정립하고 헌금의 분명한 의미를 깨닫게 한다. 또한 물질적 부에 대한 유혹과 위험을 가르치고 성도들로 하여금 자족하는 생활을 하게 한다. 더 나아가서는 영원한 곳에 보물을 쌓아가게 한다.헌금에 대한 설교를 위하여 성경 전체를 골고루 강해 설교하도록 하며, 인내심을 가지고 청지기 훈련을 하고 교회가 헌금을 어떻게 사용할 것인가를 투명하게 제시하여 헌금하도록 동기를 부여한다. 또한 목회자가 성도들에게 본이 되는 삶을 살도록 한다.마지막으로 헌금에 대한 효과적인 설교를 위해서는 헌금이 예배의 한 필수 요소임을 깨닫게 하고 성도로 하여금 헌금을 드리는 태도가 중요함을 일깨워야 한다. 그래서 헌금을 의무감이나 죄책감에서 드리지 않도록 하되 피하지 말고 담대하게 설교하라. 또한 성도들로 하여금 헌금을 통해 하나님의 사역에 동참하게 하고 하나님의 약속과 성격적 보상에 대하여 분명하게 전달하도록 하라. 그러기 위하여 목회자가 누구보다도 성경적인 물질관을 통한 청지기적 삶의 원리를 깨달아 스스로 실천하고 그것을 성도들에게 어떻게 훈련해야 할 것인가를 분명하게 가르치고 설교해야 할 것이다.
