And the third is also ‘I’ visiting ‘Yoo-Jeong’ to propose commiting suicide together in the past, at KyongSeong. The first is the love suicide that the subject desires, but is only an imaginary hope, the third is off the essential desire, since the two man has to face death due to illnesses. <실화>에서는 다중 주체의 존재 양상을 다양하게 보여주고 있었다. 젊은 이상과 늙은 이상, 그리고 형해가 된 이상이 ‘나’에게 종속적인 다중 주체로 나타나고 있는데, 이들은 자연적 시간의 흐름을 왜곡하여 인물의 시간적 변화를 무화시키고 있었다. 뿐만 아니라 경성의 ‘유정’ 과 동경에서 C양이 들려주는 소설 속의 남자도 ‘나’와 분리된 대등한 다중 주체로 존재하고 있었다. 이를 통해 주체와 타자의 경계를 무너뜨림으로써 주체의 타자 지배라는 근대적 이성중심주의의 이항 대립에 대한 비판적 인식을 나타내고 있었다. 이러한 다중 주체는 목숨을 건 사랑인 정사의 형식을 빌어 욕망을 성취하고자 하였다. 이때에 정사는 세 가지로 제시되고 있는데, 첫 째의 정사는 소설 속의 소설에 나오는 일이며, 셋째의 정사는 신념을 함께 하는 두 남자가 질병으로 인해 필연적인 죽음을 맞이해야 하는 것이었다. 현실적 의미를 갖는 것은 두 번째 정사로 상대인 ‘연’이 교환가치를 대변하는 야옹의 천재였다는 점에서 실패가 예정되어 있었다. 하지만 오히려 이를 통해 정사의 좌절과 절망을 넘어서는 순정적 사랑과 자율적 예술에 대한 이상 자신의 욕망을 역설적으로 성취하고 있었다. 이런 점에서 유고작 <실화>는 발표작 <종생기>와 대응하는 작품으로서 실질적인 동경 체험을 통해 타자 및 죽음과 사랑에 대한 인식이 심화된 이상의 예술가적 진면을 여실하게 보여주는 대표작의 하나라 할 수 있었다.
