8th dispatch of envoy(1711～2) was full of complications because of the political issue such as the change of diplomatic relations. In spite of that, vigorous cultural exchange made lots of books of conversation by writing. Among them, Munsakisang was showed a certain tendency because Japanese literary men who were participated in conversation by writing formed a regular academic relations with Juksaengjorae. Munsakisang collected and checked by Sugye, Gosan and Juksaengjorae was adhere strictly to the viewpoint of denouncing Chosun’s literary men’s poetry and prose but on the other hand they partly put much value on Japanese literary men’s poetry and prose. As a scholar of ancient writing, Juksaengjorae tried to have well-balanced viewpoint. But this was likely an intentional consideration to avoid criticism of impartiality. After all, the key point of explication of Munsakisang depends on the trust of Juksaengjorae’s viewpoint. To sum up, it is a matter of applying fair judgement or personal estimation of Juksaengjorae. In some part, he tried to maintain objective viewpoint but in other part he showed a biased judgement by personal acquaintance. That was because Juksaengjorae had an intention of informing superiority of Japanese literary men over Chosun’s literary men and also he tried to win recognition of his ancient writing society Hwonwon in Japanese. According to the writing in Pyeono, Juksaengjorae’s viewpoint was somewhat objective but by his confidential domestic and foreign intention, his viewpoint as a critic was not to be trusted. This can be solved by more objective insight that analyzing and discriminating poetry and prose.

8차 사행(1711～2년)은 사행 목적과 전혀 관련 없는 빙례 개변이라는 정치적인 문제로 인해 우여곡절이 많았다. 그럼에도 왕성한 문화교류로 다종의 필담창수집이 간행되었고, 그 가운데 問槎畸賞은 필담창수에 참석한 일본 측 문사들이 荻生徂徠와 일정한 학연을 맺고 있어 하나의 경향성을 보여주었다. 須溪와 孤山, 徂徠에 의해 輯校되고 비평된 問槎畸賞은 조선 문사의 시문에 대해 貶下 위주의 시각을, 일본 문사의 시문에 대해서는 襃揚 위주의 시각을 견지하였다. 물론 전적으로 조선 문사의 시문을 폄하만 하고 일본 문사의 시문을 포양만 했던 것은 아니었다. 徂徠가 고문사학을 하는 사람으로서 균형 잡힌 시각을 취하려 애쓴 반면, 조선 문사 전체의 문재를 폄훼하고 일본 문사 전부의 문재를 포양하는 데서 불거지는 시각의 공정성 논란을 피하기 위한 의도적 배려일 수도 있었다. 결국 問槎畸賞의 성격을 해명하는 관건은 徂徠 시각의 신뢰 여하에 달려 있다. 시문의 감식 능력을 갖춘 최고의 비평 시각으로 공정한 잣대를 적용하였는지 아니면 사적인 감정이 개입되었는지 문제인데 객관적인 시각을 유지하려고 노력한 흔적이 보이는 한편, 개인적인 친분에 구애된 모습도 눈에 띄었다. 徂徠가 이러한 면모를 보인 이유는 아마도 대외적으로 조선 문사와의 문운을 건 자존심 대결에서 일본 문사의 우수성을 알리고, 대내적으로 자신의 社인 蘐園의 고문사학적 위상을 일본 전체로부터 공인받으려 한 것과 일정한 관계가 있을 것으로 추정된다. 片語에 나타난 문면의 의미로만 본다면 徂徠의 시각이 객관적이라 할 수 있으나 그의 내밀한 대내외적 의도를 되짚어 볼 때, 비평자로서의 시각에 일말의 회의를 품지 않을 수 없다. 이는 보다 더 객관적인 안목에서 시문 자체를 정치하게 분석하는 品藻 능력이 뒤따라야 해결될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
