The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants for corporate social contribution of Korea defence industries, using the financial performance. To test the research hypothesis, the author analyzed whether same year's or prior year's financial performance significantly affects corporate's contribution. The author carried out the multiple regression, using defence company of 511 firms-years for 8 years from 1999 to 2007. According to the research result, the higher ROA(Return on Asset), R&D and advertising expense level, the higher donation expense level used as proxy variable of corporate social contribution become. And firm's age has positive effect on contribution level. In additional analysis, mostly financial variable of the previous year is not associated with the contribution level, but current ratio has positive effect on contribution level.

본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 방위산업체의 재무성과가 사회공헌활동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 분석하는 것이다. 연구가설의 검정을 위해 당해 연도의 재무성과가 당해 연도의 사회공헌활동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였으며, 추가적인 분석으로써 전년도의 재무성과가 당해 연도의 사회공헌활동에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 표본은 1999년부터 2007년의 기간 동안 각 산업에 속해 있는 511기업-연수의 방위산업체를 대상으로 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 총자산수익률(ROA), 연구개발비지출수준, 그리고 광고비지출수준이 높을수록 사회공헌활동수준이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 기업연령이 오래된 기업일수록 사회공헌활동수준이 높게 나타났다. 또한 추가적인 분석의 결과로서, 직전 년도 대부분의 재무성과 변수는 당해 연도의 사회공헌활동수준과 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났으나, 유동비율은 사회공헌활동수준과 정(+)의 관계를 보였다.
