일본의 ｢대륙 개척 문학｣이 탄생하는 배경에는 대륙 개척 이민 정책이 있고, 그 이민 정책을 널리 펼치기 위해 국책 단체가 결성되었다. 만주 개척 이민과 밀접하게 관련된 것이 ｢대륙 개척 문예 간담회｣이며, 이 단체의 멤버를 중심으로 만주 개척지 시찰 등을 거쳐 많은 대륙 개척 문학이 생산되었다. 그 멤버이며 대륙 개척 문학을 써, 조선과도 가장 깊게 관련된 유아사 가츠에이를 다루었다. 유아사의 개척 문학을 중심으로 자세하게 내용을 조사하는 것으로, 일본의 개척 문학의 깊은 이해를 도모했다. 유아사의 개척 문학은 만주 개척 이민 정책의 전개와 관련된 내용이 많다. 만주 개척민이 되어 가는 일본의 농촌을 시찰하거나 체재해 그 자료를 조사한다. 또, 이주하는 만주의 개척지를 방문하거나 체재한다. 그리고 그 내용으로 작품화했다. 유아사에 한정되지 않고 만주 개척 문학을 쓰는 대부분의 일본의 문학자들의 수법이기도 했다. 특히, 유아사는 조선에 사는 일본인을 다루거나 조선인을 소재로 한다는 점이 다른 문학자와 다른 특징이라고 말할 수 있다. 일본의 국책 단체인 ｢대륙 개척 문예 간담회｣의 역할은 단지 만주 개척민의 시찰만이 아니었다. 도중, 조선에 들러 조선의 문학자들과 좌담회나 조선에 사는 사람들에게 강연을 실시하는 것이었다. 내선 일체․황민화를 서두르는 식민지 정책에의 협력은 더욱 더 활발하게 전개되어 갔다. 문학자의 입장을 이용하여 일본의 문학자들은 조선의 문학자들도 전쟁 협력으로 몰아냈다. 일본이 대동아전쟁에 물들어 가는 것에 따라 일본의 문학자들도 본래의 입장을 잊고 그 협력에 여념이 없었다. 조선․만주․대만․중국․몽고․남양의 문학자들에게 일본 제국 이데올로기의 이념을 강요했다. 일본의 문학자들에 의한 조선 문단과의 관계와 조선 문단의 전쟁 협력 활동에 대한 행위를, 현대를 사는 우리에게 대조해보고 싶다.
