The purpose of this study is to review the problems of candidate nomination and electoral result in the 18th National Assembly Election with focus on the party support of Busan voters. For this research, this study compared the party support and the number of votes of each party in this election with the results of the recent other elections. And also this study explored various problems, which was caused by wrong candidate nomination in Busan and segmentation of the Grand National Party (GNP) in this election. As a result of this study, the GNP has been firmly supported by Busan citizens in the old elections, in spite of various socio-political cleavages, but the candidate nomination in disregard of citizen's opinion in this election induced the division of party support in Busan. In addition, the noise and segmentation of the GNP's candidate nomination and the change of party support in Busan mean a new possibility of another political change and cleavage though this was temporary situation.

본 연구는 2008년 4월 실시된 제18대 국회의원선거를 통해 부산지역에서 표출된 선거 결과를 중심으로 각 정당별 후보공천과 정당지지도에 따른 제반 문제점을 고찰하는데 주요 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 제18대 국회의원선거를 중심으로 최근의 선거 결과를 통해 나타난 부산지역의 각 정당별 지지도와 후보 득표율의 변화 양상을 비교하였으며, 이를 통해 이번 선거에서 부산지역에 대한 중앙당 중심의 후보공천과 한나라당의 내부 분열이 초래한 제반 문제점을 파악하였다. 연구 결과, 제18대 국회의원선거에서 부산지역은 그 동안 다양한 정치․사회적 균열에도 불구하고 한나라당에 대해 비교적 강력한 정당지지도를 보여 왔으나, 이번 선거과정에서 부산지역의 민심을 무시한 후보공천이 정당지지도의 분열이라는 파행적 선거결과를 초래하였음을 알 수 있었다. 이와 더불어 제18대 국회의원선거를 통해 표출된 한나라당의 공천 잡음과 분열, 그리고 부산지역 정당지지도의 변화는 비록 일시적인 현상이기는 하지만, 또 다른 정치적 변화와 균열구조를 양산해 낼 가능성이 있다는 사실을 인식할 수 있었다.
