From a nationalistic perspective, Uijeong-Cheoksa(衛正斥邪) ideology of Yoo In-seok is surely based on his determined logical foundations, which are culture-centrism, So-Junghua(小中華) perspective, Jonhua-yangi(尊華攘夷) doctrine, and political doctrine of Dae Il Tong(大一通). From these logical basements, Yoo In-seok had developed his Uijeong-Cheoksa ideology and translated the ideology adamantly into real actions. We can see his Uijeong-cheoksa ideology as a kind of fundamental nationalism. But it has a limitation such as 'lack of national subjectivity' in relations with China. As the nationalistic characteristics of Yoo's Uijeong-Cheoksa ideology, ultra-nationalistic, premodern cultural-nationalism and premodern proto- nationalism are worth to indicate. Also, his ideology was domestically conservative and externally exclusive and anti-aggressive. Relating to the nationalism and the citizenship in this globalizing era, we can learn from Yoo's Uijeong-Cheoksa ideology that we, as self-controling citizens and members of a nation-state with rationality and public spirit who pursuit autonomous and symbiotic civic nationalism, should develop the global common goods and seek after coexistence and coprosperity with other nations, with cosmopolitan citizenship.

민족주의와 관련해서 본 유인석의 위정척사사상은 자신의 확고한 논리적 기반 위에서 구축된 것이다. 주요한 논리적 기반은 문화주의와 소중화론 그리고 존화양이론과 정치적 대일통론 등이다. 이러한 논리에 기반을 두고, 유인석은 위정척사사상을 주창하고, 투철하게 자신의 이념을 실천해 갔다. 우리는 그의 위정척사사상을 원형적(元型的) 민족주의로 이해할 수 있다. 이 경우, 중국과의 관계에서는 ‘주체성의 결여’라는 한계를 갖는다. 그의 위정척사사상이 갖는 민족주의적 특성으로는 국수주의적이고 전근대적인 문화민족주의적 성격과 전근대적인 원형민족주의적 성격이 지적될 수 있다. 또 그의 사상은 대내적으로 보수주의적이고 대외적으로는 배타주의적·반침략주의적 성격을 지닌다. 이와 같은 유인석의 위정척사사상은 세계화 시대의 민족주의와 시민성에 상관하여 우리들에게 주체적이면서 공생적인 시민민족주의를 지향하고, 합리성과 공공성에 기초하는 자율적인 시민·국민국가 성원으로서 권리와 의무를 다하는 시민·세계시민의식을 갖고 다른 민족과 공존 공영을 추구하면서 지구의 공동선을 지향하는 시민이 될 것을 교훈으로 일러 준다.
