This study closely investigates different organizational experiences with respect to standard process adoption and assimilation from two Korean organizations over time. More specifically, we used the grounded theory approach to conjecture a theory for standard process adoption and assimilation from the field data, characterizing the environmental contexts and the experiences of the employees in the organizations. Data was collected from two organizations through several web-based surveys, and additional information was also obtained via direct interviews and phone calls. Our study reveals that environmental and institutional contexts of a specific organization have significant impact on employee behaviors regarding standard process adoption and assimilation. This study also shows the differences in standard process adoption and assimilation between public and private sectors.
