The purpose of this research is to survey on satisfaction rate and demand rate of senior citizens who participate in senior citizens’ school that is responsible to education senior citizens to provide basic data to develop and revitalize education for senior citizens. The survey was conducted on 352 senior citizens who are participating in education programs in Suncheon City. Survey questions included overall participation status, satisfaction rate on operation of senior citizens’ school, satisfaction rate on education program, and demand rate on senior citizens’ school. I used frequency analysis on the demand of correspondent and conducted dispersion analysis for satisfaction rate on operation of senior citizens’ school. Then, I used technical statistics analysis to find out satisfaction rate for senior citizens’ education program. The result of research had significant difference with sex, education background, spouse, family form, and participation period, but had no significant difference with age, health status, and monthly expenditure for satisfaction rate on operation of senior citizen’s school. Satisfaction rate for senior citizens’ education program was higher than average which means they were mostly satisfied. Moreover, demand rate for operation of senior citizens’ school was one semester system with one time per week, 1-2 hours a day, the hope of the morning classes, and they wanted field trip or practice on singing or health related lesson. Therefore, this research suggests limits and problems of current senior citizens’ school and issues to be reflected on future programs.

본 연구는 노인교육을 책임지고 있는 노인대학 참여노인의 노인대학 운영 및 프로그램에 관한 만족도와 요구도를 조사하여 노인교육의 발전과 활성화를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 순천시에서 운영하는 노인대학 교육프로그램에 참여하는 노인들 352명을 대상으로 노인의 일반적인 특성과 전반적인 참여 실태, 노인대학 운영에 대한 만족도, 노인대학 교육 프로그램에 대한 만족도, 노인대학 운영에 대한 요구도를 조사하였다. 조사대상자의 일반적인 특성을 알아보기 위하여 빈도 분석을 하였고 일반적인 특성에 따른 노인대학 운영에 대한 만족도는 변량분석을 실시하였으며 노인교육 프로그램에 대한 만족도를 알아보기 위하여 기술통계 분석을 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 일반적인 특성에 따른 노인대학 운영에 대한 만족도는 성별, 학력, 배우자 유무, 동거가족의 형태, 참여기간에 따라 유의미한 차이가 있으나 연령, 건강상태 그리고 한달 생활비에 따라서는 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 노인교육 프로그램에 대한 만족도는 중앙치보다 높게 나타나 대체로 만족하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 노인대학 운영에 대한 요구도는 1년의 학제로 주당 1회, 하루 1~2시간의 오전 수업을 희망하였으며 노래교실과 건강관련 학습의 견학 및 실습을 통한 교육을 희망하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 현 노인대학의 제한점, 시사점 그리고 추후 노인교육 프로그램에서 반영되어야할 사항들이 제시되고 있다.
