The purpose of the study is to investigate health problems of migrant workers in Korea. Methods: The data were collected from the records of the medical history of 2,233 migrant workers who visited the community health clinic in Ansan city, Gyeonggi province from Jan. 2005 to Jan. 2007. The data were analyzed by SPSS. Results: Men accounted for 56.4% of the total who participated in the study. Most of them were Chinese, Russian, and Bangladesh people. The 590 people out of all the migrant workers were employed in manufacturing industries and they comprised the largest percentage. The most commonly complained health problems were musculoskeletal (31.7%), digestive (20.7%), respiratory (12.5%), dermatologic (6.5%), cardiovascular (5.5%) and dental disorder (5.2%). The 1,853 (36.0%) workers were assumed to have hypertensive disorder and 1310 (11.1%) workers ,some diseases due to high cholesterol level. Conclusions: It is necessary to establish a public health care system to improve health and welfare of migrant workers. Furthermore, the communities need to draw their attention to this matter. And it is also necessary to make accurate research on their health and medical service.

본 연구는 이주노동자의 건강문제를 파악하기 위함이다. 방법: 연구 대상자는 2005년 1월부터 2007년 1월까지 경기도 안산시 소재 일개 이주 노동자 무료진료소를 방문한 이주노동자 2,233명 진료기록지를 분석하였다. 자료분석은 SPSS(ver 12.0)통계 프로그램를 이용하였다. 결과: 연구대상자의 성별로는 남자가 56.4%이었고, 국적은 중국, 러시아, 방글라데시 순으로 나타났다. 직종으로는 응답자 1,802명중 제조업이 590명(32.7%)로 가장 많았다. 가장 많이 호소한 건강문제는 근골격계(31.7%), 소화기계(20.7%), 호흡기계(12.5%), 피부과적 증상(6.5%), 심장 관련 문제(5.5%), 치과(5.2%) 순으로 나타났다. 혈압은 측정 대상자 1853명중 고혈압 질환이 의심되는 경우가 36.0%로 나타났고, 총콜레스테롤이 높아 질환의심이 되는 경우가 1,310명 중에서 11.1%를 차지하였다. 결론: 이주노동자의 건강과 복지를 향상시키는데 있어 정책적인 의료제도마련과 함께 지역사회의 관심이 필요하다고 사료된다. 또한 이주 노동자의 건강상태와 의료이용실태를 보다 정확히 파악하는 것이 필요하다.
