This dissertation suggests that expressive activities using flowers as natural subject material result in changed behavior in art activities at school and home. The purpose of the current study is to assess changes in the inclination of children who participated in expressive activities using flowers. Forty-four children aged five to six participated in experimental classes where they engaged in expressive activities using flowers once a week for 10 weeks.After the experiment, interviews and a questionnaire survey were conducted in the following categories: interest in the experimental class, preference to subject material, recognition of color, self expression, and appreciative activities. Children were given 18 questions in a group interview; the president of the nursery school and the class teachers were given 11 questions to assess the children’s changed behaviors as ob-served in nursery school; parents were given a questionnaire with nine questions to access the children’s changed behaviors as observed at home. The results of the inter-views and questionnaires were analyzed in terms of frequency, and were then con-verted into percentages. In a group interview conducted after expressive activities using flowers, children showed a high percentage of interest in the experimental class, a high percentage to subject material, and a high percentage of recognition of colors.Self-expression and appreciative activities were assessed four times after each alternative session. The changes through four sessions showed that children gradually showed positive responses in all questions. Combined results of the interview with the president of the nursery school and the class teachers, and the questionnaire survey done with parents also showed that child-ren’s behavior changed in a positive way. The directive hypothesis that children participating in expressive activities using flowers show positive changes in their inclination toward art activities was verified.Children showed particularly strong attachment and achievement when they ex-pressed the physiological life aspect of flowers. Their recognition of flowers changed, too. Therefore, it is expected that expressive activities using flowers will contribute to aesthetic catharsis, which is the purpose of art education.

자연 소재인 꽃을 활용한 표현활동을 통하여 미술활동과 학교와 가정에서 파악해야 할 변화된 행동 특성을 문제로 제기한다.본 연구의 목적은 꽃을 활용한 표현활동을 실시한 아동들의 미술활동 성향에 어떠한 특성이 나타났는지를 실험하는데 있다. 본 연구는 만 5, 6세 아동 44명을 대상으로 주 1회 총 10회를 10주에 걸쳐 꽃을 활용한 표현활동으로 실험수업을 실시하였다. 실험 후 수업흥미도, 표현 소재 선호도, 색채 인지, 자기표현과 감상활동으로 구분하여 아동은 집단면접 18개 항목, 학교생활은 원장과 담임교사의 면접 11개 항목, 가정생활은 학부모의 질문지 9개 항목을 통하여 수집한 자료를 빈도와 백분율로 통계 처리하여 실험 결과를 추출하였다.꽃을 활용한 표현활동 실시 후 아동들의 집단면접에서 수업에 대한 흥미도와 표현소재에 대한 선호도, 색채 인지 등은 높게 나타났다.자기표현과 감상활동에서는 2회시마다 측정하여 총 4회의 변화과정을 종합하면 모든 항목에서 점차 긍정적인 반응으로 향상되었다.꽃을 활용한 표현활동 수업 후 학교생활에 대하여 원장과 각 반 담임교사의 면접 결과와 가정생활에서 나타난 아동들의 변화된 행동 특성을 학부모의 질문지를 통하여 종합한 결과 모두 긍정적인 반응을 보였다.이와같이 꽃을 활용한 표현활동을 한 아동들은 미술활동 성향에 긍정적인 변화를 가져온다는 지시적 가설은 검증되었다.특별히 꽃의 생리적인 생명성과 관련하여 표현된 작품에 대한 애착과 성취도가 높았고, 꽃에 대한 인식의 변화가 나타나 미술교육의 목적인 심미적 정서순화에 기여하리라고 생각한다.
