WPN(Wearable Personal Network) is a very small scale network which is located on a body area andconnects various peripheral devices of a wearable computer. Wire-lined WPN is called the FAN(Fabric AreaNetwork). Wire of the FAN is made of conductive yarn and is embedded in the fabric of a cloth. This paperidentifies requirement of the FAN and suggests a combined type for the FAN topology. Then it proposes theDPUS interface which supports both the DC PLC and the USB communication. Experimentation performed witha prototype implementation shows that the proposed FAN works well without performance loss.

웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에서 신체 및 의복에 장착되는 다양한 디바이스들을 연결하는 네트워크를 WPN(Wearable Personal Network)이라고 한다. WPN 중 전도성 섬유를 매체로 이용하여 의복에 직조되는 유선 WPN을 FAN(Fabric Area Network)이라고 하는데, 본 논문에서는 FAN 요구사항을 제시하고 FAN 토폴로지로서 혼합형을 제안하며, 혼합형 네트워크의 하나로서 DC PLC 통신과 USB 통신을 동시에 지원하는 DPUS 인터페이스를 제안한다. 또한 실험을 통하여 제안하는 기법을 검증하였다.
