Various opinions have been expressed about the early records of Baekjebongi and sillabongi in Samkuksagi, which contained a confrontation between Baekje and Silla around province Chungbuk and Kyongbuk areas on the other side of Sobaek mountain range about 1st to 3rd century. The general trend is that the record is wrong, because those events had happened before Silla formed a federation of Jinhan states and unified many small countries around Kyongbuk areas. But we can't deny the fact that as much as 20 among 24 wars against Silla began from Baekje's preemptive strike. According to the records, Baekje exercised its influence over Namhan river ever since the nation had found its way into the castle nangjagokseong in 63. And Baekje moved into the upper reaches of the Kum river and the basin of the Nakdong river from the reign of king Chogo in the late 2nd century. Afterwards in the time of King Gusu and Goi, Baekje frequently delivered attacks against Silla around Kyongsangdo over Sobaek mountains. The phase of the wars leads to the conclusion that the war began from the needs of Baekje, and that it was correlated to the growth of the nation, considering the basic nature of the war.
