This article explores the effects of attachment relationships in faithdevelopment, and gives some suggestions for Christian education. Forthis, it looks into the meaning of attachment and attachment relation-ships which attachment theory provides. After discussing common phe-nomena in Christians’religious attachments, it discusses affective andrelational dimensions of faith, which brings us to re-visit some issuesof faith development and Christian education. Attachment affects our behav-iors directly as well as emotions and thoughts. It also affects the quali-ty of our relationships with ourselves, others and God. This understand-ing provides us important insights for Christian education.That is, Christian educators need to acknowledge that they can beattachment figures to the children. The teachers should be prepared asecure environment with warm attitudes for the children. The curricu-lum should be prepared with joyful and comfortable contents for youngchildren. Both content and form of teaching are important. Above all,it is important that the content should be considered according to whetherthe children are emotionally and relationally ready for that. Otherwise,the teaching will not be effective but rather harm the children. In fact,Christian educational community based on intimacy and trust can playan effective role for the children and adults to become mature.

본 논문은 신앙발달에 있어서 애착관계의 중요성을 강조하고 기독교교육의 방향성을 제시하고 있다. 이를 위해 애착의 개념과 애착관계의 중요성을 애착이론을 중심으로 살펴보고, 애착과 신앙의 정서적 관계적 차원과의 관계성을 연구하고 있다. 기독교적 가치로 재조명해 볼 때, 유아기의 안정적 애착형성은 성인이 된 후의 신앙생활과 사회생활 등에 기초를 쌓는 일이 된다. 애착은 우리의 감정과 사고뿐만 아니라 행동에도 직접적 영향을 준다. 우리가 애착의 내적 구조를 잘 이해한다는 것은 어린아이로부터 어른에 이르기까지의 인간의 여러 영역의 발달을 이해하는데 도움을 준다. 애착은 우리의 관계의 질을 좌우할 뿐만 아니라 기독교인들에게는 신앙을 성숙시켜 나가는 중요한 요인이 될 수도 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 이러한 관계의 질이 우리의 신앙발달 문제에도 직접적으로 관련이 있음을 신앙발달 이론들을 들어 논증하고 있다. 기독교교육학적 입장에서 볼 때, 교사는 애착의 대상이 될 수 있다는 점을 인지하고, 가르치는 형식의 면에서 부드럽고 평안한 환경을 만들어 주는 것이 필요하다. 또한 발달시기별로 알맞은 안정적 교육내용과 형식을 준비하여 제공하는 것은 아무리 강조해도 지나침이 없다. 궁극적으로 기독교교육은 총체적이고 통전적인 교육을 위해 학습자의 인지적 측면뿐만 아니라 정서를 고려하고 관계성을 촉진하는 것이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문은 친밀성과 신뢰로 이루어진 교회교육공동체는 학습자들에게 효과적으로 기독교 전통을 전수 받을 수 있게 하며, 신앙의 성숙을 돕는 매우 중요한 교육의 장임을 제안하고 있다.
