본 연구는 성장 위기 상황 아래 있는 한국교회를 어떻게 다시 부흥하게 할 것인가를 교제 중심의 목회를 통하여 밝히려는 것이며, 교제중심의 목회가 목회의 원천이신 예수 그리스도께서 이 땅에 구상 하신 가장 적합한 공동체의 모습임을 인식하게 하고자 하였다. 한국교회에 다가온 총체적 부실은 한국교회를 다시 정립하여야 한다는 목소리를 높이고 있다. 이러한 상황은 교회의 구조를 다시 생각하게 만들고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 하나님께서 구상하신 교회의 핵심가치인 교제의 의미를 상고하고, 그것이 교회의 흐름 속에서 어떻게 이어져 왔는지를 살폈다. 그리고 교제가 현대 교회 가운데 어떻게 접목 되어 왔는지를 약술하였다. 논자는 교제중심 목회의 형태를 살펴보고, 그것의 핵심적인 요소들이 어떤 것이어야 하는지를 제시하였다. 그리고 교제중심 교회의 과제에 대한 해결의 방법들을 모색하였으며, 현대 교회 중에 교제중심의 목회로 성장하는 대표적인 교회의 목회 틀을 제공하였다. 목회의 본질이 흔들리는 현실적인 상황 속에서 교제를 중심으로 하는 공동체의 중요성을 더욱 강조함으로 진정한 하나님의 나라가 이 땅에 실현 되리라고 본다.
